Causes of neck pain include ( but not limited to) :
Joint sprain - this is when the ligament holding the spinal joints in place is “overloaded” and as such becomes sprained. The result of this is that the neck joint will then “tighten up” to protect itself. Pain and stiffness results. In order to resolve such an issue its important to restore the normal movement back to the joint. Chiropractors are experts at using gentle, precise, spinal manipulation to target these exact joints, and restore their normal movement.
Disc prolapse/ slipped disc - disc issues are a common cause of neck pain and can range from mild ache and stiffness in the neck, to acute pain in the area and radiating down into the arm/hand. When the disc protrudes, the surrounding spinal joints will typically tighten up and become restricted, also causing pain. With gentle and appropriate care, these joints can be mobilised to regain normal function.
