If you have an injury that is bothering you at the moment or have had a history of recurrent injury and feel the problem may originate at foot level or be causing poor foot posture as a means of compensation then maybe you need a biomechanical assessment and/or orthoses prescription.

Biomechanical Assessment

A special assessment which enables me to decide which is the most appropriate method to improve and support the way you walk.

Gait Analysis

Gait analysis is an assessment of the way you walk and/or run.

I use the TOG Gaitscan system to provide additional information and data on which to base my clinical decisions and the advice I give you.

Orthotic Prescription

Using my knowledge and experience I will design an orthotic prescription taking in to consideration the podiatric biomechanical assessment, the results of the Gaitscan, the sport you are involved in and your preferred footwear.

Squad Screening

I also offer a screening service where I will come to a club and assess either part of or a full squad of players. This involves assessing and gait scanning those chosen squad members whether injured or not. I will write a full report for each player with an interpretation of findings for each individual.

This can be used as a way of detecting those players where orthotic prescription may prevent injury. It is a good way of determining high, medium and low risk players and prioritising club expenditure in this area.

In the longterm it can prove an effective way of reducing pressure on the whole medical team and can also prove very cost effective.

Look After Your Kid’s Feet

If you are concerned in any way about your child’s feet then I now provides a specialised paediatric clinic to assess and advise. Your child’s health is important and any walking problems are best seen sooner rather than later if only for advice. It may be that reassurance is all that is required but this can be invaluable in putting your mind at rest.

It costs £80 for a 30-40 minute appointment.

In this time I will assess the biomechanics of your child along with some gait analysis to observe your child’s walking. Footwear can be reviewed and advice given, then if necessary specialised children’s’ orthotics can be provided to correct any biomechanical abnormalities found during the assessment.

Usually I would not prescribe expensive fully custom made orthoses for children whilst they are still growing. there are many off the shelf orthoses that provide all the support and correction needed and are much more cost effective.

For in-toeing or out-toeing specialised gait plates are usually required (dependent on severity) and I can provide these.

As a mum of a 4 year old boy and a 2 year old girl I know myself how worrying it can be when you are not sure what is normal and what is not. You can be reassured that I would only treat your child if I would do the same to my own.
